Snapchat+ Adds New Features, Reaches 1 Million Subscribers

Snapchat+ has more than a million users in just six weeks. Snapchat+ has launched four new features to build on the momentum.

Snapchat+ is a premium membership that gives you access to exclusive features.

The service was launched with just a few offerings:

  • Snapchat+ badge
  • Ghost trails are the ability to track where your friends have been in the last 24 hours.
  • You can see who has rewatched your photos.
  • You can choose to designate a friend and pin them to your feed.
  • Many exclusive icons and themes.

Subscribers can get more from their membership by using four additional features. Here’s what’s new.

Four new features for Snapchat+

Snapchat+’s new features, which were released this week, include:

  • Priority Story Replies: Influencers and celebrities will see your replies more often
  • After-view Emoji: Display a particular emoji to people after they have viewed your photos.
  • Bitmoji backgrounds – More options for choosing a set to your bitmoji
  • App icons – Change the Snapchat icon from your Home Screen to a new design.

Snapchat+ has a better start than the comparable subscription service Twitter Blue based on its features.

Twitter Blue costs $4.99 per month and offers fewer features than Snapchat+.

Twitter doesn’t reveal how many premium subscribers it has. There is evidence that the service is not doing well.

Twitter’s Q2 2022 earnings reports shows that revenue from subscriptions and other sources has fallen 36% year-over-year.

Snapchat+’s success is encouraging, as Snap Inc published a miserable earnings report last month that saw its stock drop 25%. Snapchat+ has over 1 million subscribers, which means that Snapchat+ is now on the rise.

This is an excellent thing for Snapchat users, marketers, and for Snapchat itself, as it’s one of the most popular apps to reach Gen Z customers.

A recent study shows that Snapchat’s younger users aren’t using other apps daily.

  • 70% of Snapchatters aged 16-24 don’t use Twitter daily.
  • 63% of Snapchatters aged 16-24 don’t use Facebook daily.
  • 42% of Snapchatters aged 16-24 don’t use TikTok daily.

Snapchat offers marketers a unique value proposition. This is excellent news for Snapchat’s longevity, even if you don’t like the new features.
